  • The ROX Institute for Research & Training offers customizable, evidence-based professional development for educators and is an approved provider of continuing education for counselors, social workers, and marriage & family therapists.

  • These expertly facilitated workshops for girls and their mother or father figures offer a unique opportunity for meaningful connection. Participants gain skills to improve their communication and connection. With time set aside for adult-only activities, teen-only activities, and joint activities, this workshop facilitates the opportunity for honest discussion and a safe space to explore new ways of relating.

  • With a combined 15+ years of experience as certified self-defense instructors for girls and women, the ROX team provides private stand-alone workshops for schools, organizations, sports teams, and businesses. Designed for girls 10 years and older, this workshop helps female-identifying participants explore myths and facts about violence; learn emotional, verbal, and physical strategies for staying safe; and experience their own strength and confidence in a supportive setting.

    Workshops can be customized for women, girls (10 and up), or a combination! Pricing starts at $250 for 10-25 participants.

  • What can companies do to cultivate female leaders and ensure more equitable, empowering environments? Speakers from The ROX Institute for Research & Training offer a data-driven roadmap for folks in corporate settings to understand the social, personal and environmental factors that influence the development of female confidence and leadership.

  • Ideal for school staff, parent groups, or office book clubs, the book study for the award-winning book, “Girls Without Limits: Helping Girls Succeed in Relationships, Academics, Careers, and Life” is professionally facilitated by local ROX experts. Written by ROX Founder and CEO, Dr. Lisa Hinkelman, “Girls Without Limits” is an ideal tool for all adults who work with and care about girls and provides insights into the lived experiences of girls. The book study provides an opportunity to discuss the concepts and case studies provided in the book. You will be challenged to approach your work with girls with a new, empowering lens and develop hands-on, concrete strategies to implement immediately in your day-to-day interactions and conversations with the girls in your life.

  • Our week-long programs help girls discover what it means to be a smart, strong, safe and confident girl! This all-girl experience is led by licensed educators and designed to teach participants how to stand up for themselves, shut down the “drama,” and practice leadership! Through fun, interactive activities girls discuss the big issues going on in their lives and develop skills to navigate challenges and find success.

    Topics covered include: team-building, confidence and self-esteem, assertive communication, social media, healthy friendships and relationships, girl bullying and relational aggression, body image, and verbal and physical self-defense.

Our Experts:

  • Dr. Sibyl West is an associate professor in the Department of Counseling at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where she teaches in the clinical mental health and school counseling master's degree programs, as well as in the counselor education and supervision doctoral program. Prior to teaching in higher education she worked as a school counselor in Tucson, Arizona. Dr. West works with the ROX facilitator training team to train and certify counselors and educators to deliver the ROX Program for Girls. She focuses her teaching, scholarship, and service to elevate conversations of diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice.

  • Dr. Hinkelman is an academic and clinician, who has spent her career in counseling and education focused on girls and women. She is the founder and CEO of Ruling Our eXperiences (ROX) and the author of “Girls Without Limits: Helping Girls Succeed in Relationships, Academics, Careers, and Life.” Written as a tool for parents, teachers and counselors, “Girls Without Limits” has won acclaim as a resource that helps adults "get it" by developing an understanding of what girls think and feel about their daily challenges.

  • As the manager of content development & community programs at Ruling Our eXperiences (ROX), Lauren oversees the organization’s community-based programming including: parent workshops, summer camps, community outreach, and corporate workshops. She regularly presents for school professional development seminars, state and national conferences, and local and community events. Prior to joining the ROX team, Lauren spent nine years as a high school counselor and has worked both in private and public school settings.
